Egil was responsible for bringing e-music radio formatting for Southern California stations like KROQ-FM and Groove Radio (103.1FM, Los Angeles). He also presided over a music video television program, "Groove TV," and created the record label egil_music, which has released mix CD's by drum'n' bass's Aphrodite and trance mega-DJ Christoper Lawrence. As a trance DJ himself, Egil released the cleverly titled Trancemission mix CD in 2000 and followed it with Live From Webster Hall a year later. ~ Diana Potts, All Music Guide

Dave Armstrong Rank*: 660 GENRE: House, Disco

In a world filled with so many imitators and so few innovators it comes as a great relief when the gods of electronics music bestow upon the dance community a true spirited crusader dedicated to helping elevate the evolution of electronic music as we know it today to new and undiscovered heights.Someone who can step up and be the ringmaster to guide the frenzied dance masses to a new level in audio awareness in what music can bring to the heart and the soul. That innovator, that crusader, that ringmaster of downright funkdified goodness is none other than Dave Armstrong.

Steve Angello Rank* 159 GENRE: Electronica

Music is no idle pastime for Mr. Angello. It’s everything. As a small boy Steve was introduced to the wonders and delights of the Athens’s club culture and underworld in which his father moved. Deeply enthused by all of this and, as it emerged, incredibly talented, Steve quickly honed his turntablism skills, fusing hip-hop, breakbeats and 70’s classics until he won himself his first club residency in Stockholm. Under-age (16) and out way past his bedtime, Steve was earning a not-so-honest crust to support his family alone. Whatever, he was seriously rocking that club week in week out!Steve’s first ventures into the studio were with best buddy Sebastian three years before the mighty “Freshly Squeezed” and “Echo Vibes” were created and released on Joia Records, drawing heavily on influences such as Daft Punk’s “Homework LP”, Steve was finding new favour with the house music fraternity. Indeed “Echo Vibes” was remixed by Eric Prydz, with whom Steve has remained close ever since.

Mauro Picotto Rank*: 11 GENRE: Techno

Crossing the boundaries of musical styles is normally the kiss of death for most artists. Only the talented few can survive the typecasting that global success has brought them and Mauro Picotto is the leader of the pack. The promos on his Alchemy imprint are so cutting edge that gloves need to be worn when handling them. The debut single, a 4 tracker called Alchemy EP, was released internationally in July 2003 receiving universal acclaim from the industry types and party hedonists alike becoming an anthem on the electronic dance scene.Mauro has continued to defy the critics by constantly changing the public perception; he has crossed musical genres while others have fallen by the way side, from the untrained eye with relative ease. Mauro Picotto encapsulates his emotions with endless energy, in both his life and his work.

Paul Van Dyk Rank*: 2 GENRE: Trance

"As I began my career as a DJ I discovered that there is a really deep communication between DJ and people. I learned to observe the different vibrations, learned how to move the crowd, and how to create atmosphere." Paul remembers, "because while spinning, an interaction takes place between the people and me. I never come into a club and spin just a ready set. It is also a very new experience for me every time, and nobody knows in advance how it will end."

ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL

Saturday July 25th, 2005. San Bernardino, CA - Electronic Daisy Carnival. I entered fast through the security check point, although they got their hands on my pack of open cigarettes and a big bottle of water. No biggie, rules are rules. Our First pit stop is "Circuit Grounds". Punk tunes are being played and people leaving and entering the place at about the same rate. There was nothing that really caught my ear to stay there longer then 5 min. Checking on time I realise I only have 30 min. before Happy Hour was over! I rushed myself to the "Budweiser" Truck and bought 4 cups of beer and paid 8$, pretty good deal considering I was one of the last ones to get such deal!

Next Up The BASS POD! That was way cool ... Drum and Bass, people cheering dancing. Ah, the fun has begun, so has the beer started to work :) Oh and by the way. Look what i found outside the bass pod!

Next stop blew me away. Ladies and Gentleman I present to you : "Speaker Junkies" Something great nice Hard Trance! Great beat, great tunes but most of all, no vinyl. All done right in front of you! All in all Speaker Junkies were great openers!

Next up, It was The carnival itself, Great freak show indeed!

Ahh, the time has come for some Outstanding performers! Starting with "Infected Mushroom".
I never really got into them that much. But when they are live, they rock the place flat out! Psychedelic with hard hitting electro beats with mellow to heart pumping melody, it was a great opener for this great evening! And they actually sing, which is very impressive if you ask me!

Next up, Junkie XL! Some one I never heard of, and plenty of people didn't either. Surprisingly He was outstanding. His mix had plenty of Vocals that sent me goosebumps and had plenty of beats that sent every one jumping all over the place. He knew what he was doing! Great stuff!

Did some one say "Grab a Red Bull"? Because that's exactly what you need for those next two guys. Crystal Method literally rocked the house. The energy coming from their front man was outstanding, the interaction with fans was great! He jumped, made faces, went mad right before our eyes, which were going mad as well! Not only they were Great! They were smart! For their last song, what better could it be then a well executed remix on Song 2 by Blur?! With such high energy end I almost had a tear come out of me, I didn't want them to stop. Too bad it's not like in Oprah, where they get to do one more for the audience.

Well, as soon as Crystal Method was finished. The whole place broke out chanting Ferry, Ferry, Ferry, only to be silenced by a great mellow intro by Ferry Corsten. Oh man! was i craving for a joint or what?! Actually a pretty girl would do too. But i was too busy trying to get people off my back. You have to understand I was standing there for more then 4 hours!!! I slowly went to the side of the "shed" where i could still hear his great mix and at the same time breathe! His music totally sends you on a ride of a life time. Great vocals, top notch everything! Great Job Ferry!

All in all Electronic Daisy Festival was an excellent "day trip"! For more pictures check out my photo gallery at deviantART
